Break The Rules Day!

Our Week!

Break the Rules Day proved very popular! We wrote our poems outside on the playground for everyone to see (until it rained!). The children enjoyed their Maths Investigation week and wrote some lovely poems!

We are lucky enough to start weekly drama sessions on a Thursday from this week! Flip Theatre Company will be coming in to deliver these to each class on the field/playground!

Maths - We are starting our new unit on Time focusing on half past, quarter past and quarter to followed by telling the time to the nearest five minutes.  Mathletics will be linked to this. We will also have a weekly times table quiz and this week it will be focusing on 5x Table

We really enjoyed the virtual visits this week from Baroness Floella Benjamin and Imam Muhammed Rizvi. We wrote recounts about the Imam and discussed why Floella's book 'Coming to England' is an important book.

The children really enjoyed the premiere of 'Elephants in the Custard' by the London Philharmonic Orchestra on Thursday. We have been creating our own Non- Chronological Reports and had great fun completing 100 things for Captain Tom!

We have had a great first week back and the children have settled in really well. The children wrote really detailed descriptions of wolves in English and recapped our learning on Oceans of the World. We also thought of questions to ask the Author and Illustrator Nick Sharratt next week! We are moving into the hall for two days next week as our windows are being replaced!

If you can and want to, for Live Assembly Friday afternoon 2:15pm can the children bring a snack and a blanket. We will have a Half Term wrap up with either a game 🎲 or a dance 💃🏽🕺  then a cosy story.

Our Week

It has been a very busy term for Kingfisher Class and they have worked extremely hard. They have adapted to the changes so well and I am very proud of them.The children have started to write their own versions of Polar Express. They have been practising hard for Christmas. They have learnt about Hanukkah and researched a country of their choice! Please remember Christmas cards to be in school no later than Monday.

Our Kindness Advent Calendar!

Our Week

The children have written their own versions of Dinosaurs and all that Rubbish. They have been practising hard for Christmas. They have also retold the Christmas story in their own words. The children are enjoying our 'Advent Calendar if Kindness' where two children are chosen each day and we have to be especially kind to them!

I have been so proud of the children this week. They showed great resilience and adapted really well to the situation. Thank you to parents as well who supported so brilliantly. 

The children have been really interested in all aspect of Remembrance and examined photos from WW1 and made some thoughtful opinions.

The children have enjoyed writing about what happened next to Goldilocks and were very proud of their levers they created in DT. On a Friday lunchtime they have the opportunity to take part in a 'multi-skills' session, they have now dubbed Friday as 'Double PE Day!'

The children had great fun using the Chrome Books today and logged into our Google Classroom. They created some lovely still life sketches and worked hard to publish their Goldilocks Books. We have also been commemorating Black History Month by talking about Mary Seacole and Rosa Parks.

Our First Two Days!

Welcome to Kingfisher Class!
