Update: Only 2 and half more weeks to go! I can't believe how quickly it has gone. The children learnt about jumping in PE, did some quilling in Art and learnt about how plants adapt to their environments in Science.

Update: I'm very excited to be back with in school after a tiring but fun filled three days at Northern Heights with Year 5! Mrs Bridgeman has given me some wonderful feedback about how hard everyone has worked whilst I've been away.

Update: The children had a great week! In PE they learned the sprint start, had a go at wrapping in Music and were extremely interested in our Geography lesson about earthquakes.

Update: School trip week! We are all excited to visit the Verulamium on Monday. Last week the children very much enjoyed the Eid assembly on Friday and getting to decorate their own stars.

Welcome Back! 19/04/22

 

Update: Welcome back! I hope you have all had a wonderful Easter break and enjoyed the warm weather. I am looking forward to seeing you all and hearing all about your holidays. 

 

English: We are beginning a book called PRIDE The Story of the Rainbow Flag. This is a story about an activist called Harvey Milk, his involvement in the LGBTQ+ movement and the creation of the rainbow flag. We will be writing a biography on Harvey Milk by the end of the two week unit.

We finished painting our fossils too and they look super cool! Update: We've had lots of fun this week. The children really enjoyed making their fossils and can't wait to see how they have turned out on Monday. We will paint them to make them look even more realistic. We're all really enjoying PE and focused on rolls this week. I was very impressed! It is our talent show on Friday and I am looking forward to seeing all the amazing acts.

Welcome Back

I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas break. I am so looking forward to welcoming you all back to school. Our first two days back at school will all be about reconnecting. Here is an outline of what we will be doing. 

 

Thursday - We will be talking about our feelings, looking at British Values and what they look like at Bromet and talking about our hopes and dreams for the future

 

Friday - We will be learning about money and jobs, looking at the different types of bullying and what bullying means, learning about the 5 ways to well being and taking part in some team building activities!

 

PE is now on a Friday

 

 

Weekly News 20/12/21

 

Update: We made it to the end of term (just)! Thank you for all of your support this term. The children will be doing lots of Christmassy activities for the final two days in school. Have a very merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing all the children back in the new year.

 

Things to remember: Homework and reading books will not be going home until January. The children can bring in a teddy on Monday and a toy on Tuesday.

Update: I have been one proud teacher at how well the children adapted to online teaching this week. It went very smoothly and they all produced some brilliant work. This week we will be filming our nativity performance which the children are very excited about! We also have the pantomime on Friday in Rickmansworth.

Update: I have been super impressed with how the children have dealt with the class going back into class bubbles. They have been extremely mature and handled the situation very well. They worked hard on their assessments and I am very pleased with them.

Update: Christmas rehearsals are well underway. We are having a lot of fun singing and practising for our performance in the church.

Weekly News 22/11/21

 

Update: We would like to welcome Miss Jones into our class. Miss Jones is a student teacher and will be with us until December 3rd. She will be returning again in January until March. I was really impressed with how the children responded to anti-bullying week. We saw lots of great performances and the children produced some fantastic posters for our display. Christmas is now upon us and the children will be practising the songs for our carol concert over the coming weeks. I have uploaded the lyrics to each song onto our class page so these can be practised at home.

Anti-bullying Week

Update: We've had a super week learning. Our COP26 day went really well and the children learnt a lot. They made some wonderful posters to raise awareness and had fun creating some paper turtles. We were lucky enough to have a virtual visit from an author on Thursday which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Update: We've had another week of super learning in Woodpecker Class. It was national poetry day on Thursday and the children recited a poem about the digestive system. They performed brilliantly and I was one proud teacher. It was great to see a sea of yellow on Friday as we raised money for Young Minds.

Team Building!

Welcome to Woodpecker Class!

 

Update: Hello there! I am so excited to welcome you all into Woodpecker Class. We are going to have such a fun year! The classroom is looking great and now all it needs is some children to complete it!

 

For the first couple of days back, we will spend some time getting to know one another and settling back into the school routine. We will talk about our feelings, create our class rules and discuss the importance of a growth mindset! We will start our usual subjects from Wednesday.
